Creating New Opportunities in Women's Coaching
The Academy for Sport Leadership (TASL) was launched in August of 2001 by a group of women representing business, education and athletics. Despite their diverse backgrounds and professions, all of the founders shared a common concern and a common vision. In launching this new nonprofit organization, their goal was to reverse a dramatic, 30-year decline in the number of women coaches.
They envisioned TASL as a pathway program: a venue for training and mentoring young female athletes, a resource for professional and career networking, and a center of education and advocacy for women committed to sport leadership.
