Marley (Powers) Apsey is from Owosso, Michigan, and attended the University of Michigan. She earned a Physical Education degree, and was a member of the softball team from 2007-2011. Apsey found out about The Academy for Sport Leadership while she was in high school, and later became involved with the program in the spring of 2011 while playing her senior season of softball at the University of Michigan.
During her internship, Apsey helped the committee with many aspects of the Future Coaches Camp planning process, assisted with coordinating the schedule of events, contacted athletic directors across the state of Michigan to promote the Future Coaches Camp, worked registration, and supervised the participants of the Future Coaches Camp. Being a Physical Education major and a college athlete, Apsey saw the value and importance in the mission of TASL for aspiring female coaches. TASL provided her an opportunity to influence high school girls and share with them her own experiences as a young woman pursuing a degree in a male-dominated career.
Apsey has been teaching Physical Education at Owosso Middle School for two years now, and is also a coach herself. She coaches seventh grade volleyball and eighth grade basketball at Owosso Middle School. In addition, Apsey coaches JV softball at Owosso High School, and plans to transition into the JV volleyball coaching position at the high school next fall. Apsey also works part-time at the Young Owosso car dealership as an Administrative Assistant.
